The Audacity of Hope - A Definite For Your Bookshelf

We're not endorsing Barack Obama for President.

He is, though, without question one of the most dynamic figures on the American political landscape.

Obama first came to national prominence when he delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic Convention. The speech is listed among the Top 100 American Speeches by American Rhetoric. {A great website.}

The Harvard Political Review has an interesting review of the convention speech.

Recently I read Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope. It's a powerful read. {New York Times Book Review}

It's more than a year and a half until the election. Somehow the campaign seems to already be running in high gear. I strongly recommend reading this book, as well as those of the other candidates, as you consider who will lead the United States after George W. Bush has finished his work.

He has at times said things that seemed ill advised, even naive, but at least you do know what he has said without going, "Huh?"

I loved this book; gave great insights. Only recently I made up my mind, though, and I vote in NJ on February 5. Obama is my guy!

Thanks for the review of his book.

While it is too soon to say if he is a great politician he is undoubtably a great speaker. There is an energy of possiblity that surrounds him. At this time in history, it is nice to see people get excited again.

Thanks for being a part of The Soup to Nuts Progressive Dinner.
